When reserves were first established, Canadian culture and political mindset were vastly different. As [Michael Melanson] states, Canada is a democratic nation. That means living here has rights and responsibilities. It is my opinion that reserves don't work and haven't for quite some time. It's time they became a thing of the past and were replaced with towns and communities where people work, own homes, and have a real choice in how to lead their lives.
