We are now in the era of technological miracles, including in the field of communication. Satellite television brings us news and information across national boundaries. The media have a strong influence of people's knowledge, attitudes, and practices. The power of media can be used very effectively to make people healthier. Systematic communication strategies can improve health behavior. Communication shapes how people conduct their daily lives, even their sexual behavior. Mass media techniques that combine entertainment with health education are particularly effective in producing behavior changes. The entertainment education approach are based on assumption that the power of mainstream popular culture is great enough to generate models for over all social behavior. This article is at...

SHOW: This pavilion has a fantastic show, combining beautiful dancing, drumming and impressive martial arts for an action-packed 45 minutes. The youngsters performing the Little Puppets' Dance are too cute for words. Young drummers were precise and confident in the Farmer's Dance. You'll be amazed by the athleticism of the young men and women in the taekwondo demonstration. An extremely well-rehearsed show, with a charming hostess providing background.

If it's true that the 1960s were the Free Love decade, the '70s were the Me decade and the '80s were the We decade, then it's certainly safe to declare that the 20-naughts -- the first tenth of the 21st century -- were a decade in which popular culture was redefined by digital technology, ever-easier online access (both legal and illegal) to movies, music and TV, the democratization of stardom, and an evolution in which the notion of entertainment for the masses was replaced by the creation of every single consumer's own personal playlist.
The early 2000s were, indeed, the "I" decade, in which iTunes and iPods and iPhones allowed everyone to declare that "I" control the content of my entertainment experience. CD sales slumped as downloadable singles became the preferred format; watchi...

Following a hugely successful inaugural event, organizers of the International Metisfest are expecting it to be bigger and better this year. About 7,000 people, from both Canada and the United States, took part in the 2009 Metisfest. "We're going to double that and there's a possibility of tripling it," says Dan Goodon, one of the organizers for the 2010 Métisfest, which will be staged Aug. 26-29. As was the case for the inaugural event, this year's Métisfest will be held at the International Peace Garden, which is situated on the Canada/United States border between Manitoba and North Dakota. The purpose of Métisfest is rather simple - to bring Métis people together to revel in their cultural and historical ties while enjoying plenty of entertainment such as fiddling, jigging and dancin...

The Winnipeg National Film Board provided the producers who worked with Oscar nominee Richard Condie on The Big Snit and for Cordell Barker's The Cat Came Back. As a centre of filmed animation, Winnipeg has been second to none. The NFB has been a centre for the nurturing of Winnipeg's documentary and drama talent. That's being swept away.
For Winnipeg it adds to the feeling that the city is losing its image as a media centre. A decade ago, Winnipeg seemed destined to become "media city." The Women's Network (now W) was centred here. The Craig family's media empire reached out to Winnipeg from Brandon. Canwest Global's Izzy Asper was building a media empire from Portage and Main. The Women's Network left. The Craigs' network has gone. Canwest is in bankruptcy protection. Who now believes...

If you're a fan of network programming, maybe seeing another repeat of Pushing Daisies or Cold Case will inspire you to finish that level of Ratchet and Clank Future instead," suggests Joseph Olin, president of the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.
"There's a much better relationship between game developers and publishers than there appears to be in terms of all the polemics between the writers, producers and studios," says Olin.
[Dan Connors] says no union scribes have composed quips for Sam & Max, Telltale's popular episodic comedy-adventure game series based on the comic book of the same name. Instead, everyone who's contributed to Sam & Max has worked in another capacity on the game, like in programming or designing.
