[Brian Walker] said the company had become "landlocked" on Scurfield Boulevard, where its head office and hatchery are currently located. "We had outgrown the facility. Our sales office had to move to a new location on Pembina Highway because we ran out of space. (The new building) will bring us all back under one roof," he said in an interview.
Walker said Granny's has consulted local and national experts and they've said the new facility will likely be the most technologically advanced hatchery of its kind in the world.
Granny's Poultry, the largest poultry processor in Manitoba and the only processor of turkeys in the province, slaughters 16.5 million chickens and 1.65 million turkeys each year.

Hoffman, president of Prairie Orchard Farms, said the bird flu outbreak has been handled well and, at this point, he does not think a complete ban on Canadian poultry is warranted. Hoffman said he and other chicken producers have been watching the situation.

HVP is made by boiling cereals in hydrochloric acid and then neutralizing the mix with sodium hydroxide to break it down into amino acids. HVP is supplied through an oligopolistic source of supply characterized by relatively few dominant sellers. CFIA continues its investigation with Canadian clients (e.g., Chemroy out of Ontario) of Basic Food Flavors, Inc. (BFF) out of Las Vegas, Nevada.
BFF assert leading quality management practices, yet something has gone awry, resulting in another tainted food problem. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) responded to a complaint of salmonella found in a February shipment from BFF. The FDA identified the source of the bacteria as the processing e...
