Let's look at oil flushes first. The premise of an oil flush is the chemical will release accumulated sludge and dirt in the engine and then it is removed as the chemical flush agent is drained. If the recommended oil is used in an engine and it is changed at the manufacturer's specified intervals or sooner, it will keep the engine clean inside. Engine oil already contains detergent additives to help remove dirt and sludge when the oil is drained. Even if you have an older engine that has not had regular oil changes, I wouldn't use an engine flush. The flush will soften up sludge, but some of it will remain in the engine.
