Dave Williamson anticipates a message we're sending out about public transportation in Metro Vancouver in his Jan. 9 Round Trip column. With the 2010 Winter Games coming up, when public transit will be the main means for getting around the region, it's an important message. First, Williamson "lucked out" with his trip. He could have been fined for travelling more than one zone on a one-zone ticket and for accepting a ticket (whether it was given or sold) from someone who wasn't an authorized vendor.
You can only receive a ticket from an authorized vendor -- a ticket vending machine or a FareDealer (the Pharmasave at Vancouver International Airport). The law is there not just because it denies revenue to the transit system, but because people selling tickets on the street more often than...

Far from "trying to distance itself" from AECL, much of the world has accepted what happened for what it is. The only parties still raising concerns are our competitors and those having political axes to grind. All need something to counter the support of a large British trade union for the CANDU option and AECL's recent successes in Europe.
As an employee, I'd love to know when AECL received billions of dollars in support from the Canadian government. The actual amounts ...

Marilyn Baker's Jan. 20 column about why she likes Big Pharma and doesn't understand why others despise them smacks of a person who has had a healthy existence and is currently able to sit in her ivory tower and pass judgment on the "little" people. Ignoring the facts of Big Pharma's true history and focusing only on the good makes her a prime candidate for a position within the industry. She mirrors its advertising tactic of trumpeting a product's miraculous properties while whispering side effects such as rectal bleeding or vomiting.
The letter to the editor by Greg Carter does a good job of illustrating the disconnect between anti-nuclear rhetoric, which is easy to find on the Internet and reality, which is often more difficult. The Chornobyl reactor accident was a disaster but was ...
