To date, most eyewitness studies have focused on memory for events lacking in emotional content. However, real-life eyewitnesses may be asked to recall - and be exposed to misinformation concerning - an episode of minimal emotional arousal (e.g., witnessing a bank robber flee the scene of the crime from across the street), or events that are much more emotionally provocative (e.g., being the threatened teller in a bank robbery). In particular, although the misinformation effect has been demonstrated in numerous eyewitness studies, little research has addressed the potential additional influence of the emotional content of the event on susceptibility to misinformation. More generally, the manner in which negative events are processed and recalled remains controversial (e.g., McNaIIy, 200...

Yet at the same time, it is a good lesson on how the difference between charisma and substance influences voter choice. Unfortunately, some people thrive on exaggerating problems and throwing blame in order to make themselves look good. ...

The prospective new owners of Canada's largest telecom company plan to guide BCE Inc.'s (TSX:BCE) drive to become a stronger competitor that will benefit Canadian consumers, the head of the Ontario Teachers' private equity unit said.
Statistically, that's the fact, so obviously we'll want to regain pre-eminence in that area, as Bell is No. 1 in many other markets.
Now that it has secured the BCE board's backing, the consortium will discuss with management "fine-tuning" ideas that worked in some of the group's other companies.

As a result of a rise in divorce rates coupled with an increased prevalence of cohabitation, a growing percentage of the population has experienced or will experience the breakdown of a relationship and also the possibility of forming another new relationship. This paper explores the impact of previous relationship and fertility histories on repartnering. Using a longitudinal approach we compare the nature of repartnering behaviour in the United Kingdom and Australia, countries with similar policy and legislative frameworks. Using prospective panels surveys (British Household Panel Survey and the Household, Income and Labour Dynamic in Australia), we find that within five years of becoming single, an estimated 49 per cent of the United Kingdom sample and 43 per cent of the Australian sa...
