Because of his commitment to the law, Prof. Edwards received a number of honours throughout his career, including being made Queen's Counsel in 1980, being appointed dean emeritus of the Faculty of Law in 1986, and receiving the Manitoba Bar Association distinguished service award in 1995.

Recognizing talented individuals achieving excellence in law, the Indigenous Peoples' Counsel designation was presented to Dr. [Henderson] at the IBA's annual conference held Oct. 20 to 22 at Rama, Ont.
