Using only the most basic level of knowledge management skills-for example, cramming and memorizing information, added to the increasing abundance of information-has aggravated the situation and created a state of information overload for many students. Knowledge management enables them to move to a higher level of knowledge skills: teaching students the skills they need for self-management, for time and anxiety management, for interpreting exams, and for lifelong learning.

All of a sudden I couldn't cope," explained [Dana Daciw], a 65-year-old St. Vital grandmother. "I couldn't cope for my personal hygiene. I couldn't lift my child. I was really desperate.
Ten years later, after moving to Winnipeg, she was quick to become a volunteer with the Arthritis Society's Manitoba/Nunavut Division. A facilitator with the organization's Arthritis Self Management Program, Daciw leads a six-week course that teaches participants how to live and cope with having arthritis. She also now trains new facilitators in the program.
"It's so rewarding to see the progress that people make because they're in a peer group, they're brainstorming with one another, and they're sharing ideas," said Daciw, a retired secretary. Participants serve as cheerleaders for one another, she s...

What role does the manager play and what role does the board play when it comes to regular condominium meetings? I find our meetings go on and nothing gets accomplished. Some directors are fed up with these meetings and feel they are a waste of time. Do you have any suggestions that could help us be more effective?
Do not stray to other issues not on the agenda. If it happens, these items should be noted in the official minutes and then added as a discussion item for the following month. Creating and issuing an agenda prior to the meeting is extra work, but is certainly worthwhile.
[Marilyn Lincoln] is a condominium owner, director and author of The Condominium Self Management Guide 2nd ed. Send questions to marilyncondoguidehotmail.com.

Initiatives by a range of stakeholders are included to illustrate shared responsibility and support for the educational goals. Successful development of the information and communications technology capacity in schools and extension of technological skills of teachers have yet to be matched in teacher education by explicit, systematic attention to the broader requirements of information literacy. National curriculum documents imply an intention to ensure that information literacy continue to be embedded in essential learning areas, but indications are...
