Other items aren't rare -- at least they do turn up on other menus -- but sometimes prove to be as elusive as if they weren't listed. I'd been looking forward to fresh oysters on the half shell, but, alas, they weren't available that night. Still, we did well with tuna gomo ae, a seductive combination of chunks of tuna, avocado and spinach in a light sesame dressing ($6.95); less well with the mundane tuna salad, in which relatively small amounts of tuna and grapefruit were hidden in a heap of greens ($7.95). On the other hand, gyu tatki -- seared beef with sesame sauce -- was tender and delicious ($6.95).
It's a kid-friendly kind of place (there were several on my visits), and if your children don't eat fish, either raw or cooked, they should love the addictive potato croquettes -- pan...

[Topping]: Stack phyllo and cut into 9 1/2-inch rounds. Butter a heavy baking sheet. Place one phyllo round on baking sheet; brush with melted butter. Top with second phyllo round and brush with butter; repeat layering with remaining sheets and butter. Using a pizza cutter, cut round into 10 wedges. Taste Tester Notes: These are very light and airy and with the rich glaze are a decadent treat. I used traditional baking yeast, but some readers noted that they have also used rapid rise yeast with good results. I did not use the nutmeg. I used a stand mixer with a dough hook to make these (check your mixer's flour capacity). I kept glaze warm over very low heat while using. Dip warm doughnuts in glaze (I found using two forks for turning, without piercing, was easiest) and place on racks over baking sheets to catch drippings to re-use, or place on wax-paper-lined sheets. If glaze gets too thick, add a bit of milk as needed to thin out. If you make a full recipe and want to glaze them all, you may need to make more glaze.

Sisimpur is an educational children's television program in Bangladesh that is co-produced by Sesame Workshop, the makers of Sesame Street. Sisimpur's goals include the support of Early Childhood Development (ECD) objectives in Bangladesh, such as the teaching of pre-academic skills to young children. In this paper we draw on qualitative research to explore how Sisimpur and its benefits are viewed by the family members and teachers of children in rural Bangladesh. Our results suggest that Sisimpur is valued by diese caregivers as a source of ideas and information about how best to raise children. We argue that Sisimpur's favorable reception is related to the success with which it has portrayed children on the show as both connected to Bangali traditions and able to take advantage of the...

The former landfill site has now been turned into a massive park, and the tourism bureau of Staten Island is cashing in on its heritage with a tour through some of the best pizza parlours in town, finishing with Italian ices for dessert. After a much-needed nap, it's back to Locanda Verde for warm asparagus salad with truffle dressing, perfectly al dente gigantone with meat sauce, and a hefty portion of juicy rare duck, glazed with fennel.

Remove chicken from marinade and drain liquid. Bake chicken at 190 C (375 F) for 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven and drain fat from pan. Mix garlic sauce and honey together. Pour honey mixture over chicken in pan to coat chicken thoroughly. Return to oven for 15 minutes or until chicken is cooked. Remove drumsticks and place on serving dish. Allow honey mixture to cool slightly to thicken (3-5 minutes) and then pour over chicken to coat thoroughly. Sprinkle sesame seeds over drumsticks and serve while warm. Serves 12 to 18 as an appetizer or 6 to 8 as dinner with fried rice or chow mein noodles.
Taste Tester Notes: These are very good with a yummy, sticky sauce. Note that this recipe use regular drumsticks, not the drumettes from wings. It does take a bit of time to prepare the drumsti...

I've always been obsessed with food," says [Julie Van Rosendaal]. "My mom likes to tell this story about when I was three and I asked when I could cook by myself. And she said 'When you can read a recipe by yourself then you can cook by yourself.' I went off and came back and said, 'Mom what's a tebespuh?'
"Be mindful of when you are eating," she says. "When I'm cooking, I tend to nibble so I chew gum so that I don't. It's amazing how much you eat! You taste this, you taste that, you lick the spoon ... and yes, it's important to taste what you're cooking, but not when you're making cookies and you eat half the dough!
