So here's some free advice to the province's native leaders. Complaining about the slashing of a smoking program is going to get you nowhere fast. Rather than focus your energy on attacking an $11-million cut, focus on your jurisdiction by taking responsibility for your own people's health. Don't fight the courts and the province over the smoking ban. Fight for First Nations health by putting a smoking ban on reserves.
Once that's done, you'll be in a much better position to take on the Tories for the cut that really hurt the health and economic well-being of First Nations.
