TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Opposition leader Ma Ying-jeou convincingly won the presidency of this island nation Saturday despite predictions voters would reject the "Beijing friendly" candidate in the wake of China's crackdown on Tibetan protests. Ma said another priority will be to try to sign a peace treaty with China, which claims to own Taiwan and threatens to invade.
