A relational model of information literacy (Bruce, 1997) has been used as a framework for examining national policies, teacher education, curriculum integration, and assessment issues relating to information literacy and lifelong learning. Initiatives by a range of stakeholders are included to illustrate shared responsibility and support for the educational goals. Successful development of the information and communications technology capacity in schools and extension of technological skills of teachers have yet to be matched in teacher education by explicit, systematic attention to the broader requirements of information literacy. National curriculum documents imply an intention to ensure that information literacy continue to be embedded in essential learning areas, but indications are...

A culture of inquiry is emerging from research-based information literacy instruction that takes place in school libraries. An ethnographic approach views the culture of inquiry through two lenses: (1) cultural anthropology and an emerging theory of evidence-based information literacy instruction, and (2) Tylor's anthropological definition of culture which serves as a framework to examine the knowledge, beliefs, art, morals, law, and customs of instruction. An emerging theory of information literacy instruction unique to school libraries identifies constructivist learning theory as the knowledge source and evidence-based practice as the underlying belief. The art of teaching in this culture is described in ten corollaries to the theory. Morals and law emerge from 21st century initiative...

This paper defines and analyzes the concept of the performance of university teachers and identifies the four variables of organizational commitment, job stress, mental health and achievement motivation. Thus, this paper puts forward the hypothesis that the four variables-organizational commitment, job stress, mental health, and achievement motivation play a part in teachers' job performance. Finally the conceptual model of the job performance of teachers is established based on the above four variables. In research based on interviews, a survey was conducted among some teachers in colleges and universities in Xi'an. Through SEM analysis, the results show that the sustained commitment has a negative effect on work performance while emotional commitment has a positive effect on work perf...

Viewpoints Research is conducting the poll, and will analyze the results for trustees later this month, said Doug Edmund, the division's director of research, planning and technology.
If they all come from K-8 (kindergarten to Grade 8) schools, and it's the same parents who respond every time, you're not getting a representative sample," he said. "Last year we were not able to report on S1-S4 (high school), because the sample was low.
"We just ask them what do they prefer, different kinds of testing," Edmund said. The pollsters ask parents about division-wide and province-wide exams and testing, and about the individual one-on-one assessment of students by teachers conducted up to Grade 6.

All sectors of Australian education are currently seeking to define and promote quality teaching and are developing policies on teacher quality and educational leadership. The national Framework for Professional Standards for Teaching sets out agreed foundational elements and dimensions of effective teaching and provides an architecture in which generic, specialist, and subject-area-specific professional standards can be developed. In 2005, the Australian School Library Association (ASLA) and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) released the joint publication Standards of Professional Excellence for Teacher Librarians, a document that helps teacher librarians find their place in the professional teaching standards agenda. This article outlines the policy framework u...
