I'd been leaning toward reacquainting myself with public transit, the unwashed masses, the madding crowd in the poor man's limousine, for some time. Then, in a two-week period in July we spent $270 filling the family van three times, and I toppled headlong toward the nearest 7-Eleven to buy bus tickets.
