Nicole and Graham Staniforth were driving east on Highway 14 towards Highway 75 at about 5 p.m. Sunday when they spotted what Nicole would later describe as a "wedge tornado" touch down in a farmer's field north of the highway.

Nicole said they watched the tornado for a minute or two as they continued east. Then they ran into a hailstorm when they reached Highway 75, and after that "we couldn't see anything."
