RCMP said the woman was at her home in Mitchell, Manitoba when her husband stabbed her in the face and head with a screwdriver. The assault occurred in a bedroom where the woman's children were present, said police.

Police said the woman called for help and officers from Steinbach RCMP attended. She suffered severe head trauma, said RCMP.

[Ronald Wayne Lacey] died due to physical trauma, said police. A relative told the Free Press last August Lacey's wheelchair was found on a nearby dock, and his money belt was missing. He disappeared after giving someone a ride, said the relative.
