I. Introduction

[1] The Principal Applicant, Mr. Hani Yousef Abid, a citizen of Jordan , came to Canada in 2003 after spending several years in the United States . He was granted refugee protection in 2005. In October 2005, the Principal Applicant and his family (collectively, the Applicants) applied for permanent residence in Canada . As part of his application, the Principal Applicant disclosed that he had been charged and convicted of “wire fraud” in the United States , for which conviction he served a sentence from September 1992 to March 1993.
