"I've always wanted to sing, I've just never had the gumption to do it."

"It was that time in the sixties and seventies when they were shipping aboriginal kids away," she said. She was told both her parents had died, although neither had. Raised in a culture that didn't understand her, she eventually found her way back to Manitoba and more importantly, found the confidence to sing.

"It's for all those women that have taken care of us," she said. "We don't all come from homes where there was a mom and dad and everyone was happy."
