Here in Brandon, inclusionary zoning was considered as part of the city's 2007 affordable housing plan (prepared by Economic Development Brandon and the Brandon Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation) but the recommendation was to hold off on the idea, at least for a year. "The author of this report believes inclusionary zoning is an ideal mechanism to ensure affordable housing is developed but does not feel that current market conditions exist to ensure successful implementation of inclusionary zoning," the report states before going on to recommend that the idea be revisited in 2008.
