Dear CM: Good for you for not leaping into the lurch and trying to patch this all up. It isn't unusual to find your childhood pals drifting off in high school due to new interests and varying levels of maturity. The problem is only in replacing them with other new friends. Your daughter has the skills to connect -- she is probably just a smidge rusty. Encourage her to check out some new extracurricular activities.
