The 2005 inquest into his shooting recommended that all general police patrol cars should be equipped with Tasers, police should first be trained to use Tasers as an intermediate weapon, and police should monitor the use of Tasers. It's when you look at aboriginal deaths while in police custody - on a national scale - that the numbers get shocking. Calls for Manitoba to create a truly independent police commission made up of ordinary citizens to investigate police shootings and complaints are right on the mark too; the AJI recommended this.
