Police tried to pull over a "suspicious" Neon just after midnight but the car sped away, Winnipeg police duty Insp. Bruce Ormiston said Sunday night. The car was not stolen, he said.

"Children shouldn't be out at that time but it's still kind of scary," she said. "That doesn't make me feel very comfortable knowing that the cops are running around shooting at cars in my neighbourhood."

"I saw police cars near the high school and they were right in front of our house all night," [Jerry Chernecki] said. "I was going to go outside but I figured there is so much garbage happening around here that I should just stay in."
