Summary


[Lyle Bauer] doesn't profess to have the perfect speech to make a cancer patient's fears all wash away. Instead, it's just about listening, about providing a shoulder to cry on or information on what services may be available to help in the fight. But his voice is also powerful because he's lived through it all.

"It's support, it's hope and a lot of times it turns into friendship. A lot of people don't know what they're going through unless they've gone through themselves and that's the way you can connect with people."

"As his mom, I could see what was happening to him, but unless you are actually the person with cancer you can't really relate. Our family sat by his bed watching [Todd Davison] go through this, but unless you're the patient in the bed going through all of that, we don't know how they feel. Lyle knew. Whenever the two of them saw each other they'd both get smiles on their faces because of that bond."
