* The Hawks also re-signed defenceman Duncan Keith, 23, to a $5.9-million, four-year contract and forward Mikael Holmqvist, 27, to a $625,000, one-year deal. In his rookie season, Keith played 81 games with the Hawks while putting up 21 points (9-12) and 79 penalty minutes.

* The Colorado Avalanche re-signed backup goaltender Peter Budaj to a three-year deal and agreed to terms with forward Cody McCormick to a $495,000, one-year deal. The 23-year-old Budaj, who will earn $600,000 next season, went 14-10-6 last season with a 2.86 GAA and .900 save percentage in his rookie year. McCormick, 23, had eight points (4-4) and 29 penalty minutes in 45 games for the Avs.

* The Montreal Canadiens re-signed goalie Yann Danis to a one-year deal. The 25-year-old broke camp with the Habs last fall but was sent down to Hamilton of the AHL after Cristobal Huet recovered from injury. Danis will start the season in Hamilton next season with Huet and David Aebischer ahead of him on the depth chart. He went 3-2-0 in Montreal last season with a 2.69 GAA and .908 save percentage and 17-17-3 at Hamilton with a 2.97 GAA and .902 save percentage.
