Two years earlier, the Cousineaus had turned to [Lorie Derraugh] when they faced the daunting task of picking the finishes for their new home. The three worked together, settling on a deep colour for the hardwood flooring and the ceramic and granite in the kitchen. The Cousineaus were already living around the corner in a smaller house, but wanted more room after the arrival of their son Gabriel.
Derraugh and the Cousineaus also settled on a rich milk chocolate paint. "Lorie gave me the confidence to go with a darker colour," says Sheila, a primary school teacher. "You buy a house and you make it into a home with the finishings," says [Yanik], who believes creating a multi-year plan with the help of a professional designer saved money in the long run.
