"We're going to try to get this done as quickly as possible," [David Asper] said. He wants to build a stadium in the spirit in which both Canwest Global Park and the MTS Centre were brought about -- a private/public model that will "become a beacon for a revived and rejuvenated Blue Bombers and for the Canadian Football League".

"There's still a long way to go," he said, adding later: "We'll go a long, long, long, long way before hitting the wall on this."

"This is one step. This isn't the final agreement, this isn't when we go to a shovel in the ground, by any means. There are many hurdles to come... when we're able to break ground, I think then you're going to see everybody locking arms and everything along those lines."
