Summary
[Matthew McConaughey] is doing his charming slacker act as a treasure hunter with big ideas and no follow-through, while [Kate Hudson] plays the competent, forward-thinking woman who cuts him loose because he doesn't know how to be an adult. As Tess's divorce lawyer tells her, "You married a guy for the sex and then expected him to be smart."
The pair's differences are almost forgotten when Finn cajoles Tess's boss, British billionaire Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland), and Nigel's empty-headed, semi-literate celebutante daughter Gemma (Alexis Dziena) into bankrolling an expedition for The Queen's Dowry, a fortune in Spanish treasure supposedly lost in a Caribbean hurricane in 1715. The two leads don't really connect.
