Summary
Well, here it is Sunday night, just two days before the vehicles begin crossing the block at the 38th annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. It's been less than three months since Barrett-Jackson's first auction outing at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. With the full effects of the recent financial crunch being felt, many buyers stayed home last October and prices at the "No Reserve" auction were down substantially from any previous Barrett-Jackson event. Given the tight money situation and a venue better served by action at the casino and the lavish stage shows, I can't say it's a true indicator of the collector-car market. While many have been asking me over the past few weeks for my comments on where the collector-car market is headed this year, my crystal ball is still out at the shop for repairs.
