Summary
A five-year volunteer with the Mamingwey Burn Survivor Society, [John Hart] has played an instrumental role in the planning of the organization's yearly conference that takes place this weekend. The two-day conference, now in its ninth year, offers burn survivors and their families the opportunity to listen to guest speakers and fellow burn survivors and allows them to talk about issues and emotions they face.
In addition to the annual conference, Mamingwey offers monthly support meetings and a peer-support program that matches survivors with new survivors, based on similarities in their injuries. The peer-support survivors are able to encourage newly burned patients and offer first-hand insight into coping with their injuries and new lives. While Hart is not often matched with new survivors, he does his best when called upon.See the full content of this document
