"I thoroughly enjoyed my time in public life," [Stuart Murray] said yesterday. "Some days were not as great as others. But I had the chance to learn about the province intimately and, from the party perspective, we got ourselves out of debt and won more seats in the 2003 election than people give us credit for."

"When Darren Praznik (former Lac du Bonnet Tory MLA) resigned, the premier called a byelection the same day," [Jonathan Hildebrand] said. "Premier Filmon took eight months to call a byelection when Elijah Harper (former NDP MLA for Rupertsland) resigned in 1992."

"My view is that if there is a general election within six months, then it would make sense to wait," he said. "But I think this illustrates the need for set election dates and then there would be no guessing game regarding when the next election will be held."
