"People are stressed," [Amin Kabani] said. "I know some (pathologists) have been more concerned about what this is going to mean."

Health Minister Theresa Oswald broke her silence on the ongoing probe Monday and said she was told in late March of "discrepancies" found in cases handled by a pathologist of almost 40 years who had been interpreting tissue samples of cancer patients.

"These notifications are going on as we speak," she said. "We have been open and transparent by communicating this to patients and the public."
