David Barnes, local Green party candidate and late addition to the morning's lineup of speakers, brought his pro-environment message to the assembly, and NDP MP for Winnipeg North Judy Wasylycia-Leis told those in attendance that now is the time to stand up for the issues they deem important. [...] though the MMF's president, David Chartrand, acknowledged the federal government's recent commitments to work together with Metis people - both through Metis National Protocol and the Manitoba Metis Economic Development Strategy -the leader of the provincial organization urged members to engage themselves and others in their lives to effect change within the current political climate.
