That being said, I am a sucker for all blood sports -- and I leaped at the chance to go to the convention, what I call my own personal version of the Grey Cup (um, and admittedly, the shot to shop a little bit in Montreal for stylish winter footwear, but that's pure folly).

For me, what's interesting about political conventions isn't so much the winners, but the losers. You'll have plenty of chances to see the winner of this race -- no matter who it might be determined to be -- covered to death in the coming weeks and months (and maybe even years).

Portage la Prairie MLA David Faurschou posed with a goat he won in some sort of "only in Portage" barnyard animal auction for charity. Before you go all postal on me, yes the picture has been photo shopped. He did pose with the goat he just wasn't on the front steps of the legislature when he did it. He had the image photo shopped for an event in Portage.
