"I think our calls for service would show that there's going to be peak times in the summertime, that's for sure," said Insp. Jim Poole, in charge of Division 50. The newly created division includes an estimated 200 WPS officers who are tasked with providing the difficult-to-define role of increasing visibility of the force on city streets. The division encompasses officers in the traffic, street crime, community relations, canine and special operations units, along with the TST.
"With warm weather comes more people on our streets at any given time... at 7 a.m., you still see people who have been out all night. You see people who ride bicycles around and walk," he said. "More people are out and that just seems to increase things for us."See the full content of this document
