Summary


Sidney Green's criticism of the Manitoba Human Right's Code (Interpretation of the rights code absurd, Sept. 23) is misconceived. The code and similar legislation in all Canadian provinces is not an attempt to legislate morality as he alleges. It prohibits unjustified discrimination in three areas: employment, accommodation and services available to the public if the discrimination is based, for example, on political belief, religion, gender, race, ethnic origin and, since 1987 when I was attorney general, sexual orientation.
