Summary


In 1964, Treasure Chest boldly suggested that a "Negro" president would be elected in 1976, the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

"I have never forgotten the story and the story came true, just 32 years later than predicted," says [Winnipegger Larry Kohut], who was 13 when the comic book came out.

"You have to remember what was happening in America at the time," says Kohut. "That's when they had the race riots. It was a very violent time.
