Summary
[James Arnal] is the 88th Canadian soldier to die in the Afghanistan conflict since 2002. Canadians have consequently become very good at ramp ceremonies that manage to be both rigidly militaristic, with formations of armed soldiers snapping to attention, and also profoundly moving, as a bagpiper playing a lament accompanies the casket to the plane.
The eight pallbearers, members of 2 Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Shilo, Man., performed their duty with a grim determination, arms linked beneath the casket, sharing the burden as they shared their grief.Arnal's friends also knew him as a great cook and a tireless traveller who planned to visit Egypt and Jordan when his combat tour was up this fall.See the full content of this document
