Pastor Smith claims that proponents of a First Nations casino in Brandon have failed to consider the social costs related to casino gambling, saying: Where is the information from (casino supporters) telling us that there are 200 gambling-related suicides in Canada per year ... The point is that given the numbers of VLTs in Brandon and area other gambling opportunities that exist (on the Internet, bingos, lottery tickets, etc.), the location of a casino in Brandon will not result in a major increase in the number of problem gamblers.
