Cyclist Turns in Golden Performance in B.C. Mountains

Summary

LEAH KIRCHMANN had "high expectations" for herself going into the National Mountain Bike Championships at Sun Peaks Resort near Kamloops, B.C., in July and she more than fulfilled those hopes.

"She's a tremendously talented athlete with a lot of potential to go far in this sport," he said.

"She's an amazing girl. She's a very high-calibre talent. Winning against the girls from B.C. and Quebec (two mountain biking powerhouses) is very tough. She has a chance to be a national level athlete," said [Marion Pyszczek]. He hopes Kirchmann, who next year will move up to the junior level from the juvenile category, will win some medals for Manitoba at the 2007 Western Canada Summer Games.
