Brandon did benefit from an extra $78,000 to help fund the new, mandatory physical education curriculum for Grade 11 and 12 students and could also receive some of the $1 million available in additional instructional support through the province's small schools grant. The Park West school division also received a two per cent base increase under the formula guarantee, though it will get the chance to cash in on the tax incentive grant, which last year netted it an extra $173,000 because trustees there chose not to raise taxes, according to secretary treasurer Gerald Puhach.
