Summary


Mr. [Stephen Harper] says Parliament has become dysfunctional and he claimed the committee hearings are nothing but "kangaroo courts." There's no question the committee system needs to be overhauled, but its current inadequacies are not a justification for treating the process with contempt. They are certainly not cause for an election, unless, of course, Mr. Harper fears the hearings, including one scheduled for next spring on the Mulroney-Schreiber affair, will slowly undermine faith in his government.
