Summary
None of this is to say we should not use ethanol -- or, for that matter, that we should. Rather it is an argument for the depoliticizing of global warming, for governments' taking responsibility to set out all the facts about issues so that consumers can make informed choices. At least, so that they can make informed choices while they are still able. The day is not long off when all gasoline will contain ethanol and the choice is no longer in the pumps. Who will complain, because who knew all the facts? When it happens, perhaps ignorance will be bliss, even if it's not necessarily good for the globe.
