Summary
The resignation of the city's top bureaucrat was abrupt, but not so surprising to those who follow civic affairs. A succession of mayors has made changes to that office. Ms. [ANNITTA Stenning] was hired in the final days of former mayor Glen Murray, who did not finish out his second term before jumping, unsuccessfully, to federal politics. There were reports occasionally of friction between the administration and the mayor's office. Ms. Stenning's leaving allows Mayor Sam Katz to imprint his own style on the CAO's office. Indeed, Mr. Katz swiftly moved to replace Ms. Stenning with a senior political adviser, Alex Robinson, on an interim basis. That appointment must still be ratified by council.
