Hourly inspections of Brandon's dike system will continue by crews on the dry side and boat patrols on the wet side over the weekend, though fixing regular springtime water main breaks and filling the potholes created by large trucks grinding down 18th Street North will also be a focus for city staff, the mayor said. City officials say they won't feel comfortable letting evacuees back into their homes and businesses until the river gets close to or below the dike pre-construction height, which sat at 359.51 metres (1,179.5 feet) above sea level prior to work beginning on it in February.
