In a statement, the coalition argues that there is no clear evidence of benefit from physical punishment and it puts children at risk of injury, poor mental health, impaired relationships with parents, a weaker sense of moral values, increased aggression and antisocial behaviour, poor adult adjustment and tolerance of violence.
