Summary
The 2008 tester was a dark grey metallic gem that brought a grin to my face the moment I started driving it. You get a sense this car wants to be driven as soon as it's fired up. Perhaps it's the 2.5-litre, turbocharged and intercooled, high-output flat-four under the hood, just waiting to let loose its 243 horses; or maybe it's the stubby gearshift lever poking up from the console, your connection to the slick six-speed manual transmission -- whatever. There's a definite feeling this is more than just a family sedan.
One of the changes Subaru made for 2008 was to add a second button for controlling the SI-Drive. It's mounted on the steering wheel -- why? I'm not sure. Too often, I found myself unintentionally engaging this control as my hand moved about the wheel. It's not a crisis, but it was annoying; the control knob on the centre console does the job just fine.Subaru says the 2008 Legacy has been given a new look, but you'll have to look hard to see it. The front and rear have been freshened, including new fascias, a new grille, headlights and tail lights. The result is subtle, building on the previous model's attractive styling without making '07 Legacy owners feel their cars are outdated.See the full content of this document
