Richard Gray told a daylong forum on the future of the wheat board in Winnipeg he's looking forward to the report of a task force charged with coming up with ways of implementing the Conservatives' goal of creating a dual market for Prairie wheat and barley.

"I strongly currently hold the view the wheat board has (a) positive effect on average producer incomes," he told the audience of farmers, academics, business persons and politicians.

"Once farmers get cash prices, there is no going back (to the wheat board)," [Jim Pallister] said.
