"This is a jack pine forest, very dry," [Tom Mirus] said. "This is not (caused by) lightning -- this is being investigated," he said.

"It was a raging fire this afternoon," said Mirus, who hoped that by today, "It's going to be a wet, burned forest."

Mirus said the fire was to the southeast of the tiny community of Sandilands. "The wind is blowing from the southeast into town," he said.
