"We're pitching good and playing good defence, but I think we can do a little better offensively than we've done in the past few days," said manager Rick Forney. "But, I'm not complaining, as long as we're winning games. I'd look for our hitting to pick up the pace here."

"It's important that you learn how to win close games instead of finding ways to lose them," said Forney. "That stretch while (third baseman Brent) Metheny was gone, we were finding ways to lose close games, and now we're finding ways to win them, and that's important because you've gotta do that to compete in the playoffs. You don't anticipate a lot of high-scoring games in the post-season. Not that we've got anything locked up yet, but most of them are generally pretty close games."

"We're still a long ways away from that kind of stuff," he said before Friday's game. "I'm just worried about us getting healthy and playing good baseball. The time will come when we'll have an opportunity to start thinking about the playoffs and lining things up, but I think it's a little premature to do that right now."
