"I think it's become more of a faith issue for me than I ever intended," says [Kathy Douglas], 46, a student minister at Niverville United Church. "The Bible is full of food images, (such as) abundance, hospitality, breaking bread, eating with those who are sinners, manna from heaven, don't take more than you need."

"Over two-thirds of people who are chronically hungry are farmers," says [Dan Wiens], citing figures from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. "I don't think ignorance (about those facts) is an excuse in this information age."

"This has been a change of what we eat and how we eat, and it's been a good change," says [Gary Clark], who is looking forward to adding some spices to his cooking soon. "Generally our first choice will be to buy local and eat local as much as possible."
