"We are looking very closely at mandatory-reporting legislation," said Naline Rampersad, spokeswoman for Health Minister Theresa Oswald. "We are examining how similar legislation might work in Manitoba and continue to have discussions with health professionals on the issue. We're actively looking at it."
Tory Justice critic Gerald Hawranik says such reports shouldn't be left to a doctor's or nurse's discretion, but should be mandatory to ensure police have added help ensuring people who commit crimes pay for them."It would aid in the investigation of crime," Hawranik said.
